Relay for Life ‘09
![]()
Friday night, May 1st, 2009 – The Relay for Life walk benefiting the American Cancer Society took place. Hundreds of people braved the beautiful 70 degree weather, copious amounts of food and wonderful live music to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer.
The Prestoncrest Singles were STRONGLY represented by Team Lock, Pop and Drop Cancer. The Dream Team consisted of Delena, Natalie, Kristin, Kelli, Michelle, Anastasia and Marvin – all fantastic (and fast) walkers! The team walked in honor of Mama Penny (Delena’s mom) and Aunt Sally (Marvin’s aunt). To raise extra money, the team decided to sell baked goodies and have Kelli punch people in the face if they didn’t donate. If they prefered not to be punched, she kicked them in the face. Needless to say, we raised the most money. (Disclaimer: The last part about punching and kicking people in the face may have been fabricated).
Team Lock, Pop and Drop Cancer walked so fast that the race organizers cancelled the event at midnight – 7 hours earlier than planned. (Disclaimer: We may have gone home early because of swine flu and not the speed of our walking).
Good times!
